Ketlen Vieira has been forced to withdraw from a proposed bantamweight clash against Tonya Evinger at UFC Fight Night 137 in Sao Paulo on Sept. 22.

MMAjunkie.com was first to report the news of Vieira’s exit from the card. Vieira confirmed to MMAFighting.com that she suffered a knee injury that will require surgery; a timetable for her return is uncertain.

The UFC is reportedly seeking a replacement opponent for Evinger on short notice. According to MMAjunkie, the promotion would prefer a Brazilian fighter in order to avoid any potential visa issues. UFC Fight Night 137 takes place at Ibirapuera Gymnasium and is headlined by a light heavyweight clash pitting Jimi Manuwa against Thiago Santos.

Vieira has established herself as one of the top talents in the women’s bantamweight division with four consecutive victories to kick off her promotional tenure. The 27-year-old’s resume includes notable triumphs over former UFC title challengers Sara McMann and Cat Zingano.
