Kevin Bizier-Fredrick Lawson Headline PBC on NBCSN Card on Nov. 7

By Mike Sloan Oct 14, 2015
Premier Boxing Champions will swing down Miami, Fla. on Saturday, Nov. 7 for another edition of PBC on the NBC Sports Network. The event will be headlined by a 12-round IBF welterweight title eliminator between Kevin Bizier and Fredrick Lawson and will be held at the Miccosukee Resort and Gaming.

Bizier, who has fought exclusively on his native Canadian soil up until this bout, had a terrific amateur career. While he has recent wins over quality foes like Carlos Herrera, Laszlo Fazekas and most recently Fouad El Massoudi, Bizier (24-2, 16 KOs) has dropped two of his last five fights. He can ill-afford a loss to Lawson, but Bizier said he has to prove his worth in the world of boxing.

“An opportunity like this is exactly what I was waiting for,” said Bizier. “It is now my turn to prove I belong at the world class level. I am going to make the most of this opportunity.”

Lawson, born in boxing-rich Ghana but now residing in Chicago, has looked stellar in his career thus far. His power punching has allowed him to post a 24-0 record with 20 knockouts, with quality wins as of late. Though he didn’t stop either foe, Lawson has toppled Ray Narh last October and then this past June, he edged Breidis Prescott over 10 rounds.

“I would like to commend Kevin Bizier for having the courage to accept this fight,” Lawson stated. “I know he is a good fighter, but this time he is way out of his league. Come Nov. 7, I will show him why I'm the future of the welterweight division. This is the beginning of another era.”

The telecast, which will air live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, opens with an intriguing 12-round junior welterweight clash between Walter Castillo (26-3, 19 KO's) and Keita Obara (15-1, 14 KO's).
