Kevin Lee Tweets ‘I’m Willing To Die ‘Bout This S—t’ After Harrowing UFC 216 Weight Cut

Kevin Lee appears to be unfazed following a harrowing weight cut that forced him to return to the scale for a second time in order to make his interim lightweight title bout against Tony Ferguson in the UFC 216 headliner official.

“I’m willing to die bout this s—t,” Lee tweeted after tipping the scales at 154.5 pounds on his second attempt on Friday. “I got a title to win tomorrow. Nobody gonna stop me.”

Lee initially checked in at 156 pounds, but fighters are not granted a one-pound allowance for a championship fight. “The Motown Phenom” appeared to be in shock on the scale when he was informed that he missed weight. The Nevada Athletic Commission gave Lee an additional hour to make weight after he was cleared by doctors on site.

Had Lee been unable to make weight, only Ferguson would have been eligible to win the interim 155-pound belt on Saturday. Perhaps Lee’s issues shouldn’t have been a surprise considering he bragged about weight 174 pounds and eating tiramisu one day prior to weigh-ins.

UFC 216 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will also see Demetrious Johnson defend his flyweight belt against Ray Borg in the co-main event. The main card airs on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
