Two bouts have been revealed for the upcoming UFC Fight Night card in Brazil on Feb. 22, as Rustam Khabilov will square off with Adriano Martins at lightweight, while Cezar Ferreira takes on Sam Alvey in a middleweight clash.
The matchups were announced by the UFC’s Brazilian branch on Thursday. The event will be held at the Gigantinho Gymnasium in Porto Alegre, Brazil. A headliner for the card has yet to be announced.
Khabilov last appeared at UFC Fight Night in Albuquerque on June 7, where he suffered a fourth-round submission loss to Benson Henderson in the evening’s main event. The Jackson-Wink MMA representative began his Octagon tenure with triumphs over Vinc Pichel, Yancy Medeiros and Jorge Masvidal. Khabilov was supposed to face Danny Castillo at UFC 182 but had visa issues and was forced to withdraw.
Martins went 1-1 with the promotion in 2014, losing to Donald Cerrone via head-kick KO at UFC on Fox 10 in January before rebounding to knock out Juan Manuel Puig in his next outing at the “TUF 19” finale.
More commonly known as Cezar “Mutante,” Ferreira is 4-1 in the Octagon, with his lone defeat coming at the hands of C.B. Dollaway this past March. More recently, the Blackzilians member captured a three-round verdict over Andrew Craig at UFC Fight Night “Swanson vs. Stephens” on June 28.
Alvey, meanwhile, earned his first UFC triumph on Nov. 7, knocking out Dylan Andrews 2:16 into the initial stanza at UFC Fight Night “Rockhold vs. Bisping.” The former Maximum Fighting Championship titlist debuted in the Las Vegas-based promotion in August, losing a unanimous decision to Tom Watson.
