Muhammed Lawal still isn’t done with the tournament format.
Just months removed from competing in a 205-pound bracket at “Bellator: Dynamite” this past September, Lawal will take part in a light heavyweight grand prix that will begin at Rizin Fighting Federation’s Dec. 29 event at the Saitama Arena in Saitama, Japan. Details on the other fighters participating on the eight-man tournament will be announced at a later date, according to a release.

Lawal last appeared at Bellator 142, where he garnered a unanimous decision in the opening round of the promotion’s one-night, light heavyweight tournament. However, Lawal was unable to advance to the final round after suffering an injury.
Rizin Fighting Federation also announced that Brazilian jiu-jitsu standout Gabi Garcia will lock horns with Lei’d Tapa, a pro wrestler known as “Queen of Rings” as part of its New Year’s Eve card.
Spike TV revealed on Friday that it will broadcast the Dec. 31 card at 10 a.m. ET/PT that day. The event is headlined by the MMA return of Fedor Emelianenko; an opponent for “The Last Emperor” is expected to be announced soon.
“Fedor’s return is receiving global attention, and we want to give our fans the chance to see it New Year’s Eve morning with minimal delay,” said Spike TV Senior Vice President Jon Slusser. “What better way to end the year than waking up with Fedor."
