King of the Cage has planted its flag in the Philippines.

The California-based promotion recently signed a multi-year deal to promote live events in the Southeast Asian nation. According to the official release, KOTC plans to hold two shows on Philippine soil this year in addition to opening a gym to facilitate the development of Filipino prospects.

“We’re very excited about the opportunity in promoting, developing and bringing exposure to these prospects in the Philippines through the King of the Cage global platform,” said Ray Young, chairman of King of the Cage Philippines, in the official release. “Soon, we’ll have a KOTC world champion coming out of the Philippines that will be recognized globally and will have the ability to compete throughout the world.”

Young previously financed KOTC’s expansion into Mongolia, where the promotion has secured a broadcast partner in Sport Box and plans to hold its first event during the fourth quarter of 2013, according to the official release.
