The UFC 214 lineup is beginning to take shape behind its headliner, as the Las Vegas-based promotion on Wednesday announced six bouts for the July 29 event.
Most notably, Chan Sung Jung will meet Ricardo Lamas in a featherweight clash, while Renan Barao will return to 135 pounds to face Aljamain Sterling. Additionally, four other contests were revealed for UFC 214: Kailin Curran vs. Aleksandra Albu at strawweight; Joshua Burkman vs. Drew Dober at lightweight; Dmitri Smoliakov vs. Adam Wieczorek at heavyweight and Eric Shelton vs. Jarred Brooks at flyweight.
UFC 214 takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim and is headlined by a light heavyweight championship rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones. The evening’s main card airs on pay-per-view.
“The Korean Zombie” returned to the Octagon after nearly four years away at UFC Fight Night 104, where he scored a first-round knockout victory over Dennis Bermudez. Lamas split a pair of bouts in 2016, dropping a unanimous verdict against Max Holloway at UFC 199 before submitting Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 98 this past November.
Barao, a former UFC bantamweight champion, will return to 135 pounds after going 1-1 at featherweight in 2016. Sterling, meanwhile, snapped a two-fight skid with a unanimous decision triumph against Augusto Mendes at UFC on Fox 24 in April.
