The heavyweight main event between Kimbo Slice and James Thompson won’t be the only rematch on the bill when Bellator MMA makes its English debut this summer.
The California-based organization on Monday announced that Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley will co-headline Bellator 158 in a three-round welterweight affair. The event takes place July 16 at O2 Arena in London.
Koscheck and Daley’s first meeting came inside the Octagon for a co-headlining clash at UFC 113 in May 2010. Former college wrestling standout Koscheck used his grappling skills to control and frustrate Daley, who lashed out after the final bell with a late punch to Koscheck’s face. Daley was booted from the UFC in the aftermath, but the bad blood between he and Koscheck has never dissipated.
Koscheck will enter the bout in desperate need of a win, as the 38-year-old is currently mired in a five-fight losing streak, the worst of his career. Daley will look to keep rolling after winning his last five, including three straight inside the Bellator cage. “Semtex” was last seen in January, when he flattened Andy Uhrich in the main event of Bellator 148.
Bellator also revealed that two of its top British talents will compete on the London card: unbeaten welterweight prospect Michael Page and light heavyweight contender Linton Vassell will square off against opponents to be named later. Page is set for action this Friday when he meets Jeremie Holloway on the main card of Bellator 153.
