A knee injury has forced Kyle Noke to withdraw from a proposed Sept. 21 clash against Yoshihiro Akiyama in Japan.

The Australian welterweight revealed the news on his Twitter account Thursday morning.

“Unfortunately I’ve had to withdraw from my fight with Akiyama in Japan due to a knee injury. Thank you everyone for your continued support,” Noke wrote.

UFC Tonight recently reported that the promotion has asked Amir Sadollah to take Noke’s spot against Akiyama on the UFC Fight Night card. Currently, Sadollah is scheduled to face Nicolas Musoke at UFC Fight Night in Stockholm on Oct. 4.

UFC Fight Night Japan takes place at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, and is headlined by a heavyweight clash between Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson.

Following a coaching stint on “The Ultimate Fighter: Nations,” Noke dropped a unanimous decision to Patrick Cote at the show’s finale on April 16. The Jackson-Wink MMA representative is 4-3 overall during his Octagon tenure.

Akiyama, meanwhile, has not competed since February 2012, when he lost a unanimous decision to Jake Shields at UFC 144. After debuting in the Octagon with a split-decision triumph over Alan Belcher at UFC 100, “Sexyama” has lost four straight within the Las Vegas-based promotion.
