Legacy FC 61 Weigh-in Results: Steven Peterson, Mackenzie Dern Miss Weight

The Bomb Factory in Dallas, Texas, will be the host for Legacy FC 61 on Friday night and headlining the marquee will be the promotion’s bantamweight championship between titleholder Steven Peterson and challenger Mark Delarosa.

But after Thursday’s weigh-ins, only one man might wind up fighting for the belt.

Defending champion Peterson came in at a massive 138 pounds, three pounds over the division’s weight limit, even after undressing down to his birthday suit. Legacy officials informed him that he 90 minutes to lose the extra pounds or else the title would be vacated at the scale, allowing only Delarosa, who weighed 135 pounds, to fight for it. Provided the title is relinquished and Peterson wins, the title will remain vacant.

Another fighter who came in heavy was jiu jitsu mega star Mackenzie Dern, who tipped the scale at 118.75 pounds, more than three pounds above the strawweight limit. Her opponent, Montana Stewart, checked in at 115.5 pounds. There was no official word on any penalties -- if any -- Dern will face and it wasn’t revealed whether she has to the lose the extra weight.

On a side note, welterweight contender Jos Eichelberger, who fought just last Friday, is stepping in on extremely late notice to fight Abdul Razak Alhassan. Eichelberger was not present at the time of the official weigh-ins due to travel and will be allowed to weigh in Thursday night when he arrives.

Legacy FC 61 will be televised live on AXS TV beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
