With just a little more than a week remaining before the Ultimate Fighting Championship arrives in Sacramento, Calif., for UFC 177, the pay-per-view card is complete with the late addition of Damon Jackson versus Yancy Medeiros.
Jackson, the Legacy Fighting Championship featherweight titleholder, will come in on just nine days’ notice to fill the void left by a late Justin Edwards injury. “The Leech” grabbed headlines last month for his first-round arm-triangle choke victory against World Extreme Cagefighting veteran Leonard Garcia at LFC 33. Jackson is undefeated in nine pro bouts, all via knockout or submission.
Medeiros, 26, is still looking for his first official win inside the Octagon, as the Hawaiian saw his November 2013 knockout of Yves Edwards overturned after testing positive for marijuana metabolites. “The Kid” last saw action in April, when he was choked out by an arm-in guillotine from Jim Miller at UFC 172.
