Legacy Fighting Championship plans to make its foray into the kickboxing arena as entertaining as possible.

The Texas-based promotion will hold its inaugural kickboxing card on Jan. 16 at the Bayou Music Center in Houston. The evening’s main card will be televised on AXS-TV and features a number of names that might be recognizable to MMA fans, including Bellator veteran Cosmo Alexandre, former UFC talent Pat Barry and ex-WEC titlist Miguel Torres.

Legacy FC will essentially utilize the same rules system as Glory World Series, with a few minor differences. According to an email from promoter Mick Maynard, yellow cards will be issues as warnings to prevent fighters from stalling or inactivity. In addition, Legacy hopes to have open scoring for future kickboxing events.

“We have also put in a request for open scoring which is unlikely to be approved for this event -- but for our second event will be implemented,” Maynard said. “Our goal is to have the official score announced or shown to the viewing audience at the end of every round.”

Maynard previously told Sherdog.com that Legacy plans on holding three to four kickboxing cards over the course of 2015. The fight card for LK1 can be viewed below.
