Lessons Learned: Jason Jackson Taking Logan Storley’s Advice Going Into Bellator 301

Welterweight contender Jason Jackson will draw from lessons learned by his teammate Logan Storley’s losses against Yaroslav Amosov when he challenges the reigning champ in the Bellator 301 headliner at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago on Nov. 17.

Storley has faced Amosov (27-0) twice so far, dropping a closely-contested split decision loss in 2020 before suffering a lopsided unanimous decision this past February. Nevertheless, Storley’s Kill Cliff FC teammate Jackson (16-4) is registering every bit of information from those losses as he goes into his title bid against the undefeated Ukrainian.

“Logan told me everything. He left nothing out. I have been studying Amosov for years because I have always wanted to fight him since he is the best in the division,” Jackson said at the Bellator 301 pre-fight press conference. “If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best.”

Currently riding a six-fight win streak with wins over the likes of Neiman Gracie, Douglas Lima and Benson Henderson, Jackson is cognizant of the level of competition he is up against. Furthermore, acknowledging his opponent’s caliber only serves as more motivation for “Ass-Kicking Machine.”

“If I say Amosov is the best, it is going to motivate me to go out there and beat the best. He is 27-0 so I can’t be too arrogant. But if I go in there and beat him, I truly become the best. I’m bringing the belt back to Kill Cliff FC. It means so much. I fight for my family and my people just as he is.”

Meanwhile, Amosov is unbothered about his upcoming opponent being from the same gym as someone he has beaten twice before as he approaches every fight individually.

“Of course, they are in the same team, but they are different fighters,” said Amosov. “Maybe he gave him some advice, but I don’t know. I am a fighter and I have a plan. So, this fight is different to me than my last one.”
