Surging prospect Lando Vannata will return to the Octagon on March 4 when he meets David Teymur at UFC 209 in Las Vegas.
Promotion officials confirmed the pairing on Wednesday. UFC 209 takes place at T-Mobile Arena and is expected to feature a heavyweight rematch pitting Alistair Overeem against Mark Hunt. A headliner has not been announced for the event.
Vannata authored one of 2016’s best knockouts in his sophomore Octagon appearance, as he finished John Makdessi with a spinning wheel kick 1:40 into the opening stanza of their UFC 206 encounter. That highlight came on the heels of a head-turning promotional debut, when the Jackson-Wink MMA product nearly finished top 155-pound contender Tony Ferguson before succumbing to a brabo choke in the second frame at UFC Fight Night 91.
Teymur, meanwhile, has won five straight fights since dropping his professional debut in October 2013. “The Ultimate Fighter 22” cast member was victorious in his first two UFC outings, scoring second-round KO/TKO stoppages of Jason Novelli and Martin Svensson in 2016.
