Melvin Guillard will face Mike Bronzoulis in a lightweight matchup at Bellator 149.
Bellator MMA President Scott Coker on Tuesday announced the bout via Twitter. Bellator 149 takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston on Feb. 21 and is headlined by a trilogy bout between Ken Shamrock and Royce Gracie. The tent-pole event also features a heavyweight showdown pitting Kimbo Slice against Dhafir “Dada 5000” Harris. The evening’s main card airs on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
Guillard had a rough promotional debut, as “The Young Assassin” suffered a split-decision defeat against underdog Brandon Girtz at Bellator 141 on Aug. 28. The UFC and WSOF veteran has won just once in his last five outings, a second-round TKO of Gesias Cavalcante at WSOF 11 in July 2014.
Bronzoulis had a three-fight winning streak snapped at Bellator 142, where he was submitted in the third round by ex-Strikeforce titlist Josh Thomson. In addition to Bellator, the 36-year-old “Greek Assassin” has competed for Legacy Fighting Championship, Titan FC and Strikeforce over the course of his 28-bout professional tenure.
