A key middleweight matchup between Luke Rockhold and Lyoto Machida will headline UFC on Fox 15.
Rockhold confirmed the bout via Instagram following an initial report from MMAFighting.com . UFC on Fox 15 takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. on April 18. Since it is a main event, Rockhold-Machida will be a five-round affair.
“Doesn’t get any bigger than this!” Rockhold wrote. “Time to slay the Dragon.”
After suffering a first-round knockout loss to Vitor Belfort in his promotional debut, Rockhold has won three straight fights. The former Strikeforce champion last appeared at UFC Fight Night in Sydney on Nov. 7, when he submitted Michael Bisping with a guillotine choke in the second round.
Machida, meanwhile has won three of four Octagon appearances since dropping from light heavyweight to middleweight in 2013. “The Dragon” dropped a five-round verdict to reigning champion Chris Weidman at UFC 175 but rebounded to finish C.B. Dollaway in just 62 seconds on Dec. 20 in his most recent outing.
