MFC 38 to Feature Heavyweight, Middleweight, Bantamweight Title Fights on Oct. 4

For the first time in the Maximum Fighting Championship's 12-year run, there will be three titles on the line in one night when MFC 38 hits the ring.

The heavyweight, middleweight and bantamweight belts will be at stake on Oct. 4, when “Behind Enemy Lines” goes down from the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.

In the heavyweight bout, undefeated Canadian Smealinho Rama will take on twice-beaten Jackson’s MMA representative Anthony Hamilton. Rama has posted a trio of first-round stoppages in his MFC career thus far, while Hamilton will make his promotional debut riding a three-fight winning streak.

The middleweight fight will showcase Bellator and “Ultimate Fighter” alum Sam Alvey and unbeaten prospect Jason South. This will be Alvey's second attempt at winning the MFC’s 185-pound title after falling in a close bout to Elvis Mutapcic this past February. South, meanwhile, enters the title match holding nine submission wins, five of which have come in the opening round.

The final title match will feature 135-pound contenders Anthony Birchak and Tito Jones. Birchak has earned five of his 10 victories via submission, while Jones owns three knockouts to his credit in 16 pro appearances. Three more fights are expected to be added to the MFC 38 main card, which airs live on AXS TV at 10 p.m. EST.
