MFC Teams with HDNet Fights
HDNet Fights and Canadian mixed martial arts promotion Maximum
Fighting Championship announced a partnership Wednesday to present
three events in 2008.
The first show, MFC 15: Rags to Riches, will air live Feb. 22 on HDNet from the River Cree Resort and Casino in Enoch, Alberta.
"Going into 2008, the MFC was determined to find a strong television arrangement to showcase our product," said MFC President Mark Pavelich. "We were in contact with a number of networks, but the relationship we were able to create with HDNet was exceptional and a perfect fit."
In one fight announced for the Feb. 22 card, Pete Spratt (Pictures) will take on up-and-coming Canadian Ryan Ford.
"We're excited to head to Canada to cover this event," said Mark Cuban, president and co-founder of HDNet. "Bringing this live MMA action to our fans in Canada is a great way for us to reward all of our viewers north of the border."
Spratt, 17-10, has won two in a row, most recently stopping Tristan Yunker (Pictures) in a December HDNet Fights bout. He described the 4-0 Ford as "no good."
"I fully expect to rip him a new one," Spratt said. "I want to finish his career before it starts."
