After a entertaining Octagon debut that saw him come up short against lightweight contender Tony Ferguson, Lando Vannata has his second UFC appearance booked.
Promotion officials announced on Thursday that Vannata will square off with John Makdessi at UFC 206 in Toronto. Four other bouts were confirmed for the Dec. 10 event at the Air Canada Centre: Valerie Letourneau vs. Poliana Botelho at strawweight; Rustam Khabilov vs. Jason Saggo at lightweight; Zach Makovsky vs. John Moraga at flyweight and Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Drew Dober at lightweight.
Vannata rocked Ferguson in the first round of their encounter at UFC Fight Night 81 but ultimately submitted to a brabo choke in the second frame. The 24-year-old Jackson-Wink MMA representative began his professional career with eight straight victories on the regional circuit.
A 12-time Octagon veteran, Makdessi is coming off a split-decision triumph against Mehdi Baghdad at UFC Fight Night 90 on July 7. The Tristar Gym product is 7-5 during his promotional tenure.
