Heavyweights Mark Hunt and Antonio Silva are set to headline UFC Fight Night 33 in Brisbane, Australia.
UFC officials Monday confirmed the rumored matchup, which will take place Dec. 7 at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in the Queensland capital. No other bouts have been announced for the card.
Both big men will look to get back on track after suffering stoppage losses at UFC 160.
Hunt, 39, had his Cinderella streak ended in May, when ex-titleholder Junior dos Santos crushed the “Super Samoan” with a third-round spinning hook kick. The former kickboxer had reeled off four straight victories, including knockouts of Stefan Struve and Cheick Kongo, which unexpectedly launched Hunt into the heavyweight top 10.
Silva came up short in his bid for UFC gold, succumbing to punches from Cain Velasquez for the second time in as many meetings between the two. The 33-year-old Brazilian began 2013 in dramatic fashion by outlasting Alistair Overeem to score a third-round knockout at February’s UFC 156.
