Rory Markham has withdrawn from a welterweight bout against Martin Kampmann at UFC 108 on Jan. 2 in Las Vegas due to injury.
Markham, the second fighter to pull out of the January card this week from an injury, told Sherdog.com Saturday that he pulled his Achilles’ tendon and will need time to rest and recover.
Kampmann is still expected to participate on the Jan. 2 card. The 27-year-old Danish fighter was stopped by Paul Daley’s first-round punches last September at UFC 103 in Dallas. Kampmann had won his two previous bouts, earning a second-round technical knockout against Alexandre Barros at UFC 93 last January and a split decision over former WEC champion Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 18 in April.
