Former World Extreme Cagefighting light heavyweight champion
Doug
Marshall will lock horns with Kyacey
Uscola in the Tachi Palace Fights 6 “High Stakes” main event on
Sept. 9 at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif.
Marshall will carry a five-fight winning streak into the match. The 34-year-old Visalia, Calif., native last appeared in March, when he submitted B.J. Lacy with a first-round rear-naked choke under the Playboy Fight Night marquee. Marshall, who has gone the distance only once in his 15-fight career, has secured seven of his 12 victories by knockout or technical knockout. Wins against Strikeforce veteran Lavar Johnson and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 1 cast member Lodune Sincaid highlight his resume.
A cast member on Season 11 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Uscola has
not officially competed since he stopped Koffi Adzitso on
second-round punches at an MMA Challenge event 10 months ago in
Nampa, Idaho. Seasoned by 33 professional bouts, the 28-year-old
has tested his skills against some of the sport’s most accomplished
fighters, including the world-ranked Chael
Sonnen, Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts standout Joey
Villasenor and former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion
Gegard
Mousasi. Twelve of Uscola’s 18 career victories have come via
KO or TKO.
Meanwhile, former WEC lightweight champion “Razor” Rob McCullough will collide with UFC veteran Corey Hill in another featured matchup.
McCullough made his promotional debut earlier this month, when he put away Isaac DeJesus with first-round punches at Tachi Palace Fights 5. A five-time world muay Thai champion, the 33-year-old Californian has delivered more than half (10) of his 18 victories by KO or TKO. The notoriously durable McCullough has been finished only once -- by former WEC lightweight titleholder Jamie Varner -- in his 24-fight career.
Spawned by Season 5 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Hill has won two of his last three fights. The 31-year-old, nearly two years removed from a gruesome leg injury that threatened his career, submitted Kit Cope with a first-round triangle choke at a Raging Wolf show on July 17.
