“The Ultimate Fighter” Season 7 alumnus Matt Riddle will step in for the injured Stephen Thompson and fight Besam Yousef at UFC 154 on Nov. 17, promotion officials announced on Monday.
Riddle recently completed a 90-day suspension imposed by the Calgary Combative Sports Commission after the fighter tested positive for marijuana following UFC 149. As a result, Riddle’s submission victory over Chris Clements at the July 21 event was changed to a no-contest. All 10 of Riddles professional bouts have been contested inside the Octagon. Prior to his bout with Clements, “Deep Waters” earned a split verdict against Henry Martinez at UFC 143 in February.
Yousef suffered the first lost of a seven-bout career in his UFC debut, falling to Simeon Thoresen via rear-naked choke on April 14. The 27-year-old Swede has finished five of his six victims by technical knockout or submission.
UFC 154 takes place at the Bell Centre in Montreal and is headlined by a welterweight title unification bout between Georges St. Pierre and Carlos Condit. The card’s co-main event features another key 170-pound conflict, as Martin Kampmann locks horns with Johny Hendricks.
