McCorkle will return to the Octagon on March 26 when he takes
on Christian
Morecraft in a heavyweight duel at UFC Fight
Night 24 in Seattle.
Sherdog.com has confirmed the bout with sources close to the match-up, which was first reported by MMAJunkie.com on Tuesday. Neither the fight nor the event has been officially announced by the UFC. The show’s venue has also yet to be determined.
McCorkle stepped onto the big stage in front of a hometown crowd at UFC 119 in Indianapolis, where he submitted kickboxing champion Mark Hunt with a straight armbar. Following that bout, McCorkle took on 6-foot-11 Stefan Struve at UFC 124 in Montreal. After taking the fight to the floor and threatening to submit the Dutchman with a kimura, McCorkle was swept and mounted. From there, Struve rained down punches onto “Big Sexy,” handing McCorkle the first loss of his career.
Morecraft also lost to Struve in his most recent outing. In his Octagon debut at UFC 117, Morecraft started strong, grounding the “Skyscraper” and delivering heavy ground-and-pound in the first frame. In the second round, however, the then-unbeaten Morecraft came out a bit too aggressive and ended up on the wrong end of the event’s “Knockout of the Night.” Prior to entering the UFC, Morecraft had finished all six of his opponents via first-round knockout or submission.
