Melvin Guillard Out, Diego Saraiva In for UFC 67
Melvin Guillard
(Pictures) has been forced to withdraw
from a fight against Ohioan Dustin Hazelett (Pictures) scheduled for Feb. 3 at the
Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Guillard, a rising
lightweight, suffered an apparent hand injury that will prevent him
from competing at UFC 67.
Ken Pavia, the agent for Guillard’s replacement Diego Saraiva (Pictures), confirmed to Sherdog.com that his charge will indeed take Guillard’s spot against Hazelett. This will be the first UFC contest for the Atlanta, Ga.-based Saraiva (9-3-1).
Hazelett (7-3-0), winner of four in a row before succumbing to Tony DeSouza (Pictures) in his UFC debut last Oct., makes a second trek into the Octagon.
