Michael Chandler will defend his lightweight title against Brent Primus on Bellator’s pay-per-view card on June 24 in New York.

Sherdog.com confirmed the matchup with a promotion official on Thursday following an initial report from MMAFighting.com. The pay-per-view portion of the card, entitled Bellator NYC “Silva vs. Sonnen,” is headlined by a light heavyweight clash between Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen and takes place at Madison Square Garden. Meanwhile, the Spike-televised portion of the card will be referred to as Bellator 180.

Chandler regained 155-pound gold with a first-round knockout of Patricky Freire at Bellator 157 in June 2016 before defending the strap with a split-decision triumph against Benson Henderson at Bellator 165. The former University of Missouri wrestler has won his last four fights in the Bellator cage.

The 31-year-old Primus is unbeaten in seven bouts as a professional, and that record includes five appearances under the Bellator MMA banner. Most recently, the Portland, Ore., native garnered a split verdict over Gleristone Santos at Bellator 153 in April 2016.
