Michael Page has a new opponent for Bellator 158, as he will face Brazilian veteran Evangelista Santos in a featured welterweight bout on July 16 in London.
Promotion officials announced the new matchup on Thursday. Santos replaces Fernando Gonzalez, who was forced to withdraw from the contest due to visa issues. Bellator also confirmed that a previously reported 170-pound clash between Paul Daley and Douglas Lima will headline the card following the death of Kimbo Slice, who was scheduled to face James Thompson in the original main event, earlier this week.
Bellator 158 takes place at the O2 Arena in London and will also see Linton Vassell square off against Francis Carmont in a light heavyweight duel. The evening’s main card airs on Spike TV, with exact broadcast details to be revealed in the “near future,” according to a release.
Recognized as one of the sport’s most entertaining talents, Page is unbeaten in 10 pro bouts, with all but one of his victories coming inside of a round. “Venom” is 5-0 in Bellator MMA, including a first-round submission of Jeremie Holloway in his last bout at Bellator 153.
Santos scored a surprise victory in his promotional debut, submitting Brennan Ward with a heel hook 30 seconds into their Bellator 153 encounter. “Cyborg” came up short in his most recent outing, falling to Saad Awad via first-round technical knockout at Bellator 154 on May 14.
