Michal Materla will defend his middleweight championship against Mamed Khalidov in the KSW 33 headliner on Nov. 28.
The Polish promotion announced what it calls “the biggest fight in European MMA history” via release on Friday. KSW 33 takes place in Krakow at the Tauron Arena, the largest indoor venue in Poland. The event will be available on pay-per-view at KSWTV.com.
Materla captured KSW gold in 2012 with a decision triumph over Jay Silva. He has since defended the strap four times, including a third-round TKO triumph over Tomasz Drwal in his most recent outing at KSW 31. The 31-year-old Berserkers Team representative has won 10 of his last 11 bouts.
Khalidov, meanwhile, is generally recognized as one of the top middleweights in the world. The 35-year-old promotional staple is returning from a year-and-half absence after recovering from a spine injury that required surgery. Khalidov has won 10 straight fights and owns notable triumphs over the likes of Matt Lindland, Jesse Taylor, Kendall Grove, Melvin Manhoef and Brett Cooper during that time.
