A crucial fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s strawweight division has fallen off the card for UFC 194.
An unspecified injury this week forced Michelle Waterson to withdraw from her bout with Tecia Torres. The news was first reported on Tuesday by MMAJunkie.com; according to the report, UFC officials are currently seeking a replacement opponent for Torres.
UFC 194 “Aldo vs. McGregor” takes place Dec. 12 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. The Waterson-Torres matchup would have been included on the evening’s televised preliminary card.
Waterson, a former Invicta Fighting Championships atomweight titleholder, transferred to the UFC in July and won her Octagon debut by choking out Angela Magana.
Torres, who also beat Magana in her first UFC appearance, won a grinding decision against Angela Hill in June. The “Tiny Tornado” remains unbeaten as a professional despite suffering a pair of exhibition losses during Season 20 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”
