A battle of middleweight contenders is slated for UFC 210, as Gegard Mousasi and Chris Weidman will lock horns in Buffalo on April 8.
The promotion announced the pairing on Thursday. UFC 210 takes place at KeyBank Center and airs on pay-per-view. Mousasi vs. Weidman is the first bout announced for the event.
A former Strikeforce titlist, Mousasi enters the matchup on a four-fight winning streak. That run includes TKO stoppages of Uriah Hall, Vitor Belfort and Thiago Santos in his last three appearances. The 31-year-old Dutchman is 8-3 during his promotional tenure overall.
Weidman won his first 13 professional outings, capturing the UFC’s 185-pound title in the process. He relinquished the belt in a fourth-round TKO loss to Luke Rockhold at UFC 194. After undergoing surgery to fix a herniated disc in his neck, the Serra-Longo Fight Team member returned at UFC 205, where he fall to Yoel Romero via third-round knockout.
