Eight weeks after a hip injury forced Mike Ricci to withdraw from World Series of Fighting’s one-night lightweight tournament, the same ailment has sidelined the Canadian once again.
“Our entire team wishes Mike Ricci a full and speedy recovery, and hopes to see him return soon,” WSOF President Ray Sefo stated in a release. Ricci defeated Joe Condon via first-round knockout at WSOF 25 before withdrawing prior to the evening’s semifinal round.
With Ricci injured, Fodor will instead face Brazilian veteran Luiz Firmino on the Jan. 23 card at FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn. That matchup has been downgraded to co-headlining status, while the original light heavyweight co-main event between Teddy Holder and Shamil Gamzatov has been promoted to the top of the bill.
