According to a UFC statement, the bout was nixed due to “health and safety concerns,” as Hirota was ruled medically unfit to compete by the promotion’s medical staff on hand. Hirota tipped the scales at 150 pounds for his featherweight clash with Rosa.
The 36-year-old Hirota last appeared at UFC Fight Night 110 on June 10, losing a unanimous decision to Alexander Volkanovski. The Shooto, Sengoku and Deep veteran is 1-3-1 during two separate tenures with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
UFC Fight Night 117 will proceed with 10 bouts and will air on FXX following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass. The card is headlined by a light heavyweight clash between Ovince St. Preux and Yushin Okami.
