UFC on Fox 17 was already a card filled with intriguing matchups and it was expected to be a solid overall event to close out the year for the Las Vegas-based Ultimate Fighting Championship. The promotion announced one more contest Wednesday that will make the marquee a little stronger.
Myles Jury will drop from lightweight to featherweight and will square off against Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira, the UFC announced during Wednesday night’s airing of “UFC Tonight” on Fox Sports 1.
Jury last fought in January at UFC 182, where he suffered the first defeat of his MMA career at the hands of Donald Cerrone. He was slated to return to the Octagon in July, but would-be opponent Anthony Pettis withdrew from the bout due to an injury.
Oliveira is coming off a loss as well. At UFC Fight Night 74 in August, Oliveira suffered a freak injury where he reportedly suffered a tear in his esophagus against Max Holloway.
UFC on Fox 17 will take place at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., on Dec. 19. The event is headlined by Rafael dos Anjos defending his lightweight title against Cerrone.
