Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight Myles Jury has withdrawn from UFC on Fox 16 due to an unspecified injury, the organization announced on Monday.
Jury’s opponent, Edson Barboza, will instead face unbeaten prospect Paul Felder on July 25 at United Center in Chicago. Just one month ago, Barboza replaced former champion Anthony Pettis, who was originally slated to face Jury before he suffered an elbow injury in training.
Barboza, 29, will look to rebound from a February loss which saw the Brazilian striker dominated by Michael Johnson in a three-round unanimous decision. Prior to that setback, Barboza had won back-to-back bouts against Bobby Green and Evan Dunham. The Ricardo Almeida student holds an overall record of 9-3 inside the Octagon, with five of those wins by way of knockout.
Felder, 30, made his UFC debut in October with a decision win against Jason Saggo and followed it up with a highlight-reel knockout of Danny Castillo in January. The 10-0 “Irish Dragon” was slated to return against Jim Miller on April 18 but was forced to withdraw due to a knee injury.
