The 22-year-old Haqparast made his UFC debut on Oct. 21, losing a unanimous decision to Polish standout Marcin Held, serving as a late replacement for Finland’s Teemu Packalen. The Afghan-born German carried an eight-fight winning streak into the contest before losing a unanimous decision.
Haqparast’s opponent also knows the pitfalls of taking a bout on short notice.
Reyes, 31, made his Octagon debut on Sept. 16, facing Mike Perry in a welterweight contest at UFC Fight Night 116 with less than a week’s notice. The younger brother of unbeaten light heavyweight prospect Dominick Reyes, “The Executioner” lasted just 79 seconds before being vanquished by Perry.
