Nate Diaz, Jon Jones, Brock Lesnar Reach Settlements with NAC Ahead of Thursday Hearings

Thursday, we should get clarity on the immediate futures on three of the sport's biggest stars.

The Nevada Athletic Commission announced the schedule for its forthcoming meeting on Dec. 15 and the docket features hearings for Nate Diaz, Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar, all of whom will have discussion and potential approval of their “proposed adjudication agreements” regarding outstanding infractions.

Diaz's hearing is related to his part in the now-infamous pre-UFC 202 press conference, where he and opponent Conor McGregor ended up throwing water bottles and cans, while Jones and Lesnar both face discipline for failed drug tests in July before UFC 200. All three men have been granted several continuances in their respective cases before reaching their reported agreements with the commission.

Both Jones and Lesnar tested positive for anti-estrogenic agent hydroxyclomiphene prior to UFC 200, while the former light heavyweight king Jones also popped for Letrozole metabolite, an aromatase inhibitor.

While the details of Diaz and Lesnar's settlements with the Commission are unknown, MMAFighting was first to break the news on Jones' deal with the NAC last week, reporting that “Bones” has agreed to a one-year suspension, to run concurrently with his punishment handed down by the United States Anti-Doping Agency. The one-year ban is retroactive to July 6, when the results of Jones' failed June 16 test were first revealed, and will expire July 6, 2017.

In his USADA hearing, Jones blamed his positive test on a sexual-enhancement pill, which USADA independently verified had been tainted with the banned substances in question. However, the agency felt Jones had not done his due diligence before taking the pill, leading to the 12-month suspension.

Lesnar's legal team has publicly stated it has independently tested both a foot cream and an eye medication as potential causes for the former UFC heavyweight champ's positive test.
