Neil Magny will take his fifth fight of the year on short notice, as the ultra-active welterweight has agreed to meet Kelvin Gastelum on Nov. 21 in Monterrey, Mexico.
Ultimate Fighting Championship officials announced the new UFC Fight Night main event on Tuesday, just 24 hours after Matt Brown was scratched from his planned bout with Gastelum due to an unspecified injury.
Magny, 28, rattled off seven straight victories in 15 months before suffering an August submission loss to Demian Maia. The onetime “Ultimate Fighter” competitor returned to his winning ways on Aug. 23 when he earned a three-round split decision against Erick Silva.
Gastelum, 24, will make his return to 170 pounds after a one-fight stint as a middleweight which saw him halt Nate Marquardt after two rounds. The “TUF 17” winner holds a record of 6-1 inside the Octagon but has twice failed to make the welterweight limit.
The 78th UFC Fight Night takes place at Monterrey Arena and includes a featherweight co-main event between Ricardo Lamas and Diego Sanchez.
