Magny was originally scheduled to fight Alex Oliveira at a UFC event in São Paulo, but now finds himself preparing for a top-10 welterweight in Ponzinibbio.
Ponzinibbio (26-3) is coming off of a win over Mike Perry, and before that a shocking first round knockout victory over Gunnar Nelson. Meanwhile, Magny (21-6) is riding a two-fight winning streak punctuated by a career-highlight win over Carlos Condit and a first round knockout of Craig White.
UFC Fight Night 140 - Buenos Aires takes place on Nov. 17.
As for the Brazilian “Cowboy,” the promotion is looking for a replacement opponent for him on the São Paulo card.
