The California-based promotion revealed on Thursday that Larkin will challenge reigning welterweight champion Douglas Lima at Bellator’s pay-per-view event on June 24. Bellator NYC “Silva vs. Sonnen” takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York and is headlined by a light heavyweight showdown between Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen.

Larkin exited the UFC after winning four of his last five bouts in the Octagon, including consecutive triumphs over Neil Magny and Jorge Masvidal. Prior to his stint in the Octagon, “The Monsoon” went 4-0 with one no contest under the Strikeforce banner.

After losing the 170-pound title to Andrey Koreshkov at Bellator 140, Lima earned a decision victory against Paul Daley at Bellator 158 to earn another crack at welterweight gold. In a rematch with Koreshkov at Bellator 164, Lima stopped his Russian foe 1:21 into the third round to reclaim the belt. Lima is 10-2 under the Bellator MMA banner overall.
