Nick Catone Hospitalized for Dehydration, Bout with James Head Pulled from UFC 159

Nick Catone will be unable to compete tonight at UFC 159 due to a bout with dehydration.

UFC officials announced the news on Saturday morning, revealing that Catone’s scheduled welterweight showdown with James Head was canceled after Catone was taken to the hospital. UFC 159 takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and is headlined by a light heavyweight title confrontation between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen.

The evening’s undercard now moves forward with six fights, including a women’s 135-pound collision pitting Olympic silver medalist wrestler Sara McMann against aggressive German striker Sheila Gaff. A welterweight showdown between sambo ace Rustam Khabilov and unbeaten Hawaiian prospect Yancy Medeiros will also highlight the preliminary proceedings, which air on Facebook and FX.

The pay-per-view portion of the bill features five bouts. In addition to the evening’s championship headliner, the event will also see Michael Bisping and Alan Belcher clash at middleweight, while Roy Nelson takes on Cheick Kongo at heavyweight. NCAA Division I wrestling champion Phil Davis and highly regarded lightweight Jim Miller will also compete on the main card, locking horns with onetime M-1 Global champion Vinny Magalhaes and Strikeforce vet Pat Healy.
