Nick Diaz Absent From UFC 183 Open Workouts After Skipping Scheduled Flight to Vegas

Since UFC 183 “Embedded” was released on Tuesday, the story coming out of Las Vegas has been the absence of Nick Diaz.

The former Strikeforce champion missed his flight from Sacramento, Calif., to Las Vegas, the site of his long-awaited Octagon return. Considering Diaz’s renegade reputation, that alone was enough to spawn rumors that his bout against Anderson Silva might be in jeopardy.

On Wednesday, the storyline continued to progress when Diaz missed open workouts at the MGM Grand. In the past, both Nick and his brother Nate Diaz have elected to skip similar obligations, Nick prior to UFC 158 and Nate ahead of UFC on Fox 13. But according to Diaz’s former coach Cesar Gracie, all of this is by design and was a result of Diaz seeing the “Embedded” camera crew prior to boarding his flight.

It remains to be seen if this will result in any sort of punishment for the former welterweight competitor, but as long as Diaz makes his way to Nevada in time for weigh-ins on Friday, such wrongs can be fixed.
