Nutritionist: Darren Till Weighs 178 on Eve of UFC 228 Weigh-ins

Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight No. 1 contender Darren Till is preparing for the biggest fight of his mixed martial arts career as he takes on champion Tyron Woodley in the main event of UFC 228 on Saturday night.

Till has notoriously faced weight-cutting issues in the past, having most recently come in four pounds overweight in his last fight against Stephen Thompson back in May.

Fight fans and pundits have expressed concern over whether or not the massive welterweight will be able to make the 170 pound limit at tomorrow’s weigh-ins, but his nutritionist says he’s only 178 pounds on Thursday, just a day before he’s set to weigh in.

Till himself has told the press he’s “a light heavyweight frame fighting at welterweight,” saying he routinely cuts down from over 200 pounds with his already long and rangy 6-foot-1 frame. The Liverpool, England, native towered over former lightweight-turned-welterweight Donald Cerrone when they fought back in 2017, but his size advantage led to two botched weight cuts in his UFC career thus far, coming in at 174 pounds against “Wonderboy” and 176 pounds against Jessie Ayari back in 2017.

The Englishman has toyed with the idea of moving up to middleweight, with designs of becoming a multi-weight class champion, but for now, Till assures fans on Thursday that he’s prepared and ready to fight for the UFC welterweight title:

It’s always hard,” Till said. “I’m lean, I’m focused, weight’s OK. I’m in me moment now where I just want to fight. I live for this. I’m just ready to fight. I’m not ready for anything else. I’m not ready for … I don’t think about anything. I don’t really care about anything. I just want Saturday to come as quick as possible and for me to show why I’m one of the best fighters alive.”

UFC 228 takes place on Saturday night in Dallas, with all fighters set to weigh in Friday.
