Officials Announced for UFC 196’s dos Anjos-McGregor, Holm-Tate Title Fights
Longtime referees John McCarthy and Herb Dean will be the third men in the cage during UFC 196’s title fights next month. The Nevada Athletic Commission voted Wednesday morning for the judges and refs for the Rafael dos Anjos–Conor McGregor and Holly Holm–Miesha Tate title fights.
Dean will be the man in charge for the lightweight title between 155-pound champion dos Anjos and challenger McGregor at the MGM on March 5. The three elected judges for the main event will be Derek Cleary, Sal D’Amato and Junichiro Kamijo.
McCarthy, the most recognizable referee in all of MMA, will handle the duties for the women’s bantamweight championship clash between Holm and challenger Tate. Marcos Rosales, Glenn Trowbridge and Chris Lee will serve as the jury for the skirmish.
All of the officials were voted unanimously by the NAC; both Dean and McCarthy will reportedly pocket a cool $1,900 for their work during the bouts.
