Olympic Silver Medalist Sara McMann Signs with Strikeforce, Could Debut Nov. 3 in Oklahoma

Undefeated women’s bantamweight Sara McMann has signed a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce.

Sherdog.com confirmed the news Tuesday with a source close to the deal. While McMann is rumored to make her promotional debut Nov. 3 in Oklahoma City, no official word has come from Strikeforce regarding her first foray in the six-sided cage.

McMann, 31, represented the United States as a freestyle wrestler at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, winning a silver medal at 139 pounds. Since making her MMA debut last year, the Maryland native has posted six consecutive wins, earning victories for the Titan Fighting Championship and ProElite before signing with all-female promotion Invicta FC.

The American made her Invicta debut on July 28, taking a unanimous decision from Strikeforce vet Shayna Baszler in the Invicta FC 2 headliner. McMann also owns notable wins over former Elite XC talent Tonya Evinger and onetime 128-pound Smackgirl champion Hitomi Akano.
