Ovince St. Preux will receive the homecoming he desired.
The UFC announced on Wednesday that the former University of Tennessee linebacker will lock horns with Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC Fight Night in Nashville on Aug. 8. The card takes place at the Bridgestone Arena and will air on Fox Sports 1.
After suffering the first loss of his promotional tenure against Ryan Bader last August, St. Preux has scored back-to-back knockouts in his last two outings, finishing both Mauricio Rua and Patrick Cummins inside of a round. The Strikeforce veteran is 6-1 in the Octagon overall, with all but one of his triumphs coming inside the distance.
Teixeira, meanwhile, has suffered consecutive losses after going on a 20-fight winning streak from May 2006 to September 2013. The Brazilian dropped a lopsided five-round verdict against Jon Jones in a light heavyweight championship bout at UFC 172 before falling to Phil Davis via unanimous decision in his most recent outing at UFC 179.
