Like the legendary Phoenix, the Professional Fighters League has risen out of the ashes of the now-defunct World Series of Fighting. The new promotion is going to be a completely different animal than the WSOF and on Friday, its first-ever event will take place.

The PFL cage will be setup near the pit area of the iconic Daytona International Speedway in Daytona, Florida, and at Friday’s weigh-ins, all of the fighters on the relatively small bill made weight. Headliners Jon Fitch and Brian Foster will lock horns in a welterweight showdown and both of the veterans looked as ready as ever on the scale. Foster, who has competed for the UFC, Titan Fighting Championships and WSOF, among others, weighed in right at 170 pounds. Fitch, a longtime Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran and the final welterweight champion for WSOF, was a smidge heavier; he came in at 170.8 pounds.

PFL 1 will be televised live on NBCSN immediately following the Xfinity Series Coca-Cola Firecracker 250. The promotion expects to have its first bout sometime around 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.
