Yuri Alcantara will fight on home soil at UFC 134 against featherweight veteran and fellow UFC newcomer Antonio “Pato” Carvalho.
Sherdog.com learned of the matchup Wednesday from a source close to the bout. Despite an initial report that Carvalho was a replacement for Mackens Semerzier, a source informs Sherdog.com that the Alcantara-Semerzier bout was never agreed upon.

Fighting out of Belem, Brazil, Alcantara rides an 11-fight win streak into his UFC, and featherweight, debut. “Marajo” made his first and only appearance under the Zuffa banner in December at WEC 53, where he out Ricardo Lamas in the first round. Jungle Fight’s inaugural lightweight champion, Alcantara has finished all but two of his 24 career victims.
Carvalho, 32, will also make his Octagon debut at the event. The Canadian has won each of his last three contests, most recently outpointing Doug Evans on June 10 at the Score Fighting Series. “Pato” is a veteran of TKO and Shooto competition and holds notable wins over Hatsu Hioki, “Lion” Takeshi Inoue and Rumina Sato.
