Pickett-Jabouin, Corassani-Ogle Set for UFC on Fuel TV 5 in England

Two bouts have been announced for the UFC’s first-ever visit to Nottingham, England.

Promotion officials recently revealed that Englishman Brad Pickett will lock horns with Yves Jabouin at bantamweight and former “Ultimate Fighter” competitors Andy Ogle and Akira Corassani will clash at featherweight. Officially known as UFC on Fuel TV 5, the event is set to take place on Sept. 29 at the Capital FM Arena.

“We are very excited to be going to Nottingham for the first time,” said UFC Managing Director of International Business Marshall Zelaznik. “Some of the biggest names in British mixed martial arts are from Nottingham, and the fans have been campaigning for us to bring a fight here for years. The UK fans are among the most passionate UFC supporters on Earth, and this is going to be a special night.”

Pickett, a two time “Fight of the Night” winner, submitted Damacio Page with a rear-naked choke in the second round of their UFC on Fuel TV 2 bout in his last appearance. “One Punch” owns notable victories over Demetrious Johnson and Ivan Menvijar during his Zuffa tenure.

After posting a 1-2 mark in the UFC, Jabouin has found more success inside the Octagon. After losing his promotional debut to Pablo Garza, the 33-year-old Canadian has posted three straight wins in the UFC, besting Ian Loveland, Walel Watson and Jeff Hougland in succession.

Injuries have delayed the debut of Corassani, who was last seen on Season 14 of “TUF.” The 29-year-old Swede hasn’t competed since February 2011, when he suffered a second-round TKO defeat to Paul Reed.

Ogle, a native of Newcastle, was unable to fight at the “TUF 15” Finale due to a concussion sustained during a semifinal loss to Al Iaquinta on the reality show. Ogle posted a 4-0 mark in 2011 and has won seven straight fights overall.
