Five fights are now official for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s return to Ireland.
The event marks the Las Vegas-based organization’s first event held on Irish soil since 2009 and will also see Gunnar Nelson clash with fellow welterweight Ryan LaFlare. Additionally, Tom Lawlor will face Ilir Latifi, while Phil Harris and Cody Donovan lock horns with Neil Seery and Nikita Krylov, respectively.
A longtime bantamweight, Pickett made his 125-pound debut last month, when he outpointed Seery in a hard-fought match at UFC Fight Night “Gustafsson vs. Manuwa.” The triumph followed a 2013 in which “One Punch” posted a 1-1 record, outpointing Mike Easton via split decision one year ago before suffering a submission defeat to Michael McDonald last August.
In McCall, Pickett will face the world’s former top-ranked flyweight, though “Uncle Creepy” has faced adversity since joining the UFC in 2012. After beginning his Octagon run with a record of 0-2-1, McCall earned his first UFC victory on Aug. 3, when he outpointed Iliarde Santos in a competitive UFC 163 contest.
