Polaris 7 Card Starting to Take Shape with Welterweight Tournament

One of Europe’s premier submission grappling promotions is back for its latest installment.

Polaris has revolutionized the grappling scene in Europe over the last few years, and on July 14, they will take the first steps toward crowning their inaugural welterweight champion, as the promotion has booked four of the most exciting no-gi stars for the first round of its welterweight tournament.

The first tournament bout pits one of 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu’s most established grapplers and one of the unsung stars of European grappling as Nathan Orchard will take on Ross Nicholls.

Orchard is as experienced as they come; a EBI finalist, Onnit Invitational champion and a world-renowned leglock specialist. Nicholls is the one of the hardest workers in UK grappling. It seems like every weekend Nicholls is competing and over the last 12 months, the Englishman has earned his fair share of gold medals. Nicholls has competed 3 times at Polaris, scoring 2 victories and a lone defeat.

In the second semifinal, Danaher Death Squad standout Oliver Taza is set to meet Absolute MMA’s Lachlan Giles.

Polaris 7 takes place on July 14 at The Indigo in London and will also stream live on UFC Fight Pass.
